Royal Sydney has just passed the 100,000 mark for new flora planted as part of our Championship Course Project – roughly 40 percent of the 250,000 that will be in the ground upon reopening next year (with another 250,000 in the year following). To help celebrate this milestone, the Club recently hosted two Planet Ark National Tree Day events.
On Friday 26th July, we welcomed Year 6 students from local schools for Schools Tree Day, as well as Member for Vaucluse Kellie Sloane and Mayor Richard Shields, to plant a number of native plants and trees on our 1st Hole. On Sunday 28th July, more than 60 Royal Sydney members and their families attended the National Tree Day event, planting approximately 100 trees and plants in one of our new landscape areas.
The events were special opportunity to have our members and young representatives from the local community play a role in creating what will be an incredibly important green space in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs for generations to come.
