In 2018, Royal Sydney created its Heathland Trial Area as space dedicated to cultivating and furthering our understanding of a variety of the heathland understorey and small brush planned for the Championship Course redevelopment.
Featuring Banksia, Acacia and various other nativa flora, the Heathland Trial Area has allowed the Club’s Turfcare and Horticulture Teams to examine how each species thrives onsite so that they can be successfully integrated with the larger trees and heathland grasses being planted in the project.
Since 2018, the Heathland Trial Area has not only blossomed into a thriving floral ecosystem, but become a popular habitat and feeding point for local fauna, including birdlife.
